Tucked into a tree-filled lot on architecture-rich Poppy Peak Drive, this Pasadena home was designed in 1957 by prolific architectural firm Buff, Straub, and Hensman.

It’s a prime example of the firm’s modernist style, with a simple post-and-beam structure that frames spacious and open interiors. A downstairs living room flows into a dining area and kitchen, with walls of glass and a double-height ceiling filling the space with natural light.

The 1,887-square-foot home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with beamed ceilings, towering windows, and sliding paper screens found throughout the house. A sturdy brick fireplace can be found in the living room and glass doors open out to a large patio with room for outdoor dining.

The house sits on a verdant 7,882-square-foot lot accessed from the upper level carport. A second-story deck provides views through the surrounding trees, extending across the San Rafael Hills.

Located at 1695 Poppy Peak Drive, the house was formerly owned by Mad Men producer Scott Hornbacher and sold in 2018 for just over $2 million. It’s now listed for $2.125 million.
